In August of 1999, this small independent retail store became the very first table tennis store in America! This magical place, filled with so many memories, is owned by the winner of the August 1999 Ping Pong singles, doubles, and mixed doubles—Homer Brown. His dream of making table sports available for everyone in a space that would facilitate both the use and the purchase of equipment became a reality through BumperNets.
From Humble Table Tennis Beginnings to Legend
Although BumperNets began in the Brookwood Mall location, in March of 2001 the store was moved to the Hoover Riverchase Galleria, becoming a Hoover staple. Boasting a 5.0 star rating, having been featured on local TV and radio advertisements, and occupying several first floor store units on one side of the old Sears entrance, is this unique table sport venue legend!
Olympic medalist Homer Brown, a skilled instructor, business owner, and table tennis player who has played in every one of the 52 US Ping Pong Opens, loves to share the joy he has experienced with everyone who comes into his store!
In addition to offering many rare pinball machines, air hockey tables, and so many more table sport setups, BumperNets is Butterfly paddle’s longest running independent retailer!
